Nociones sobre introducción de reinas - Notions of introducing queens (Span and Eng)

Notions of introducing queens
Whether to multiply hives, replacement, or to improve the genetics of apiary is necessary to know how to introduce queens to avoid failures.
The Queen As mentioned earlier, gives the hallmark to the family of bees. Therefore, the acceptance of another queen (whatever its origin) is often conflicting.

The most complicated case is when we want to replace an installed hive. The first step is orfanizar family killing his queen and leaving inside the hive.
The workers immediately recognize the loss and begin to raise queen cells from young larvae. Leaving spend four days and thoroughly reviewed by destroying all queen cells each frame. As larvae are not young age the family will have lost the opportunity to procure herself a queen. That's where the beekeeper approaches the general state of orphans to offer alternative replacement with a fertilized queen, whether produced by himself or acquired.

The queen is placed in a cage. There are plenty of models: some in which the queen is accompanied by an entourage of nurses (6 or 7), others in which the fertilized queen is alone. The cage is partially or fully formed by a mesh that prevents direct contact of workers with the new queen, but she allowed through food. Although they have decided to remove the van to feed.

Overall aggressive families often give us some headaches when change their queen. More often than not though not killed immediately start the stop position, raise real cells, the eliminated and there went our investment. In these cases it is completely divide, do three or four cores, mix with bees from other hives and place a queen each.

Concerning the introduction of the little cage, it must be at the center of the brood chamber, either strung between the heads or on them (depending on format).
Hole drilled with candy and is uncovered to facilitate the release of the queen by workers.

Usually from the beginning is possible to see the attitude of bees to the new sovereign. Some cages are sprayed with pheromones that induce workers to accept it. This added to several days orphan promotes good reception.

After three days introduced the little cage, we found that the queen has been released.
Otherwise you have to open the cage and let the queen out. No need to generate many disturbances. Recall that the new queen goes through a trial period in which the workers evaluate their ability to stand and make it responsible for any abnormalities. Therefore it is necessary, extreme care, avoid sudden movements, and abuse of the smoker.

GUIDELINES FOR OPENING A HIVE.

The response of the hive in the review will be according to how we act.

Handling some basic guidelines to ensure we generate the least possible disruption to the family during physicals must be taken into account. Whenever work is performed from the back of the hive.

Prior to the opening, a couple of puffs themselves with the smoker for the runner. The
it should be as cold as possible. Often used to lower the temperature in some aromatic
green (mint, eucalyptus, thyme, rosemary, etc.) placed on top of the smoker.

The roof is removed and carefully take off the lid from the corners between. The slowly got up and put on the stand alongside or in the forehead pressed between the floor and pressed flight.

To begin removing pictures loosen the last occupied by bees or before last. We can use either the handle or the clamp to loosen. The smoke is applied gently sweeping the heads of the pictures. Never cross unless the intention is to lower the bees.

The movements should be slow and deliberate. Thus the bees will not feel attacked and let us alone.

The first table we placed on one side of the hive on the stand. Always remember the position it occupied and not rotate. Then continue reviewing frame by frame. These take them with the tool from the center. The lever indicates the front of the box. To review the same it is placed at an angle of 40 ° trying the sun shining on the bottom of the cells.

To close the tables must be placed in the same position they were in and trying not to crush the bees when placed between lid in place.
